Critical Futures, "Health as a Human Right: Power Building for Community-Driven Change"

Critical Futures is an interview-based podcast by the Saint Louis University Institute for Healing Justice & Equity.

“It’s Critical, because the time is now to conjure the world we want to live and thrive in. It’s also Futurity: the intentional imagining and materializing of liberated futures.”

Launched in March 2023, Critical Futures is a monthly podcast that, in its first season, is partnering with the Anti-Racism Consortium, a panel of content experts, community advocates, and organizations working in anti-racist health policy. Each episode features a conversation between organizations and their community partners focused on deep community work and how we can share power in ways that move communities toward liberation.

Xavier Morels, Ph.D., MRP, executive director of The Praxis Project, was a guest on their latest episode, “Health as a Human Right: Power Building for Community-Driven Change.” Alongside host Ruqaiijah Yearby and fellow guest Judith LeBlanc, executive director of the Native Organizers Alliance, Xavier discussed the importance of community power-building, the role of partner organizations, and the work that must be done across the country to create more equitable health outcomes for all communities.
