As its own distinct political community, the SRP-MIC deals with the creation and revision of community policies. As the ill effects of commercial tobacco abuse have become evident, prevention and cessation efforts have been made by the Salt River Tobacco Education program, new relationships with programs and organizations inside and outside the community are being developed, and the education is being presented to the community regarding the dangers of commercial tobacco.
