Capacity Building Among Community-Based Reproductive Health Programs in Communities of African Descent was initiated to support advocacy and action research to advance community-based reproductive health initiatives. Our focus was to develop specific participatory action research (PAR) methods, evaluative process, and methods of technical assistance delivery that would be relevant to women of color-led, community-based organizations working in reproductive health. Due to funding constraints within the Foundation, the project was cut short in our fourth month of work. However, during this short tenure, staff at The Praxis Project developed the following resources:

Weaving a Story Beyond Our Wombs: Women of African Descent Speak Out on Reproductive Health Issues (PDF, 277K), a compilation of survey and focus group research on reproductive health issues facing women of African descent. The report was a PAR project to help us surface the context of reproductive health issues in communities of African descent by engaging those affected in the process.
