Our approach is shaped by a framework that makes community
organizing and capacity building central. We are committed to building power
in communities that are often marginalized in policymaking. Projects with
the potential for building long term infrastructure for change are a priority
as addressing root causes is a long term project.
Some Elements of Our Change
Model
- community organizing and training initiatives that
build the capacity and power of those most affected to advocate in their
own interests;
- research and analytical resources that generate solutions
and critique current and proposed policies and social relations;
- effective
engagement of the public conversation through mass media and other venues
to move ideas and build consensus;
- reflective space for strategic
planning, priority setting, and relationship building; and
- adequate
resources (staffing, knowledge, materials, technology, etc.)
to implement the work outlined above.
